Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) is a serious neurological illness which causes post-exertional exhaustion, along with pain, cognitive and sensory problems, and a dysfunctional immune system. I was diagnosed with ME in 1999, although I can trace the origin of my illness back to a severe allergic reaction I suffered in 1991.
I have more than 20 years' experience of having ME and more than 10 years' experience of advising others about ME. I also have an academic background and am used to analysing and presenting information. However, I do not have any medical training, and the information on this site represents my personal opinion and is not intended to replace professional medical advice. If your doctor has no experience with or knowledge of ME, please consult a specialist.
Please also note that while I have tried to ensure that the other sites to which I have provided links give accurate and helpful information, I cannot be held responsible for the content of these.
