Spinal Fluid

A study published in the journal PLOS ONE in February 2011 analysed the spinal fluid of people with ME and people with post-treatment Lyme Disease (the symptoms of which are similar to those of ME), compared with that of healthy controls. Researchers found hundreds of proteins which were specific to each illness, and which differed from those found in the healthy people. Further research needs to be done, but it is thought that the findings could eventually lead to diagnostic tests for both conditions.
